The profession of surveying and mapping has been around for centuries, and has evolved dramatically. Just thirty years ago, conventional surveys used basic hen-scratches on paper to map out areas.  Back then, the energy industry in Alberta was booming, and companies were flush with cash. Today’s industry is a whole new landscape: if it’s not raising the bar on safety, it’s applying pressure to lower costs, meaning a lot of vendors just get choked.  At Seisland, we’ve thrived over the long term by using “big picture thinking” to see what’s ahead, and plan for the future. We commit to our staff long-term, train them properly, give them the best technology, and protect their working conditions in the field. This has helped us to expand beyond seismic surveying, offering topographic surveying in the oil sands, right-of-way lay-outs, pipeline surveying and advanced web-enabled GIS (Geographic Information Systems) services.
